We’ve all heard and probably know the usual about setting goals. If you’re not sure, there are more than 19.3 million articles on the web to assist you – a couple of these are even on our website!


When it comes to setting goals, there’s no one way to go about it. Everyone’s starting points, goals, dreams and aspirations are different and a great way to figure yours out is it grab a drink, sit down and have a think about what you really want to achieve. Work out the plan and the timeline then imagine yourself at that point in your life having achieved your vision – look at your current self and take one step at a time.


Consider all aspects of your life – family, work, home, health, lifestyle and finances. Write your bucket list and start it!


What do you want your future self to thank you for?

• Not eating that chocolate bar that’s beckoning you

• Taking that extra walk or exercise class

• Getting to bed earlier

• Joining the club or organisation you’ve been meaning to

• Giving some extra quality time to your children

• Making that extra phone call to build your business

• Preparing the budget you’ve been meaning to do


For some of your dreams you may need some guidance or support, I encourage you to enlist the appropriate support to help you achieve your goals. It could be a personal trainer/ gym instructor or doctor for your health goals, your business partner or coach to build your business, your life partner for family and leisure time or a financial planner for your budgeting and retirement plan.


So many of us make grand goals which are daunting and often unrealistic for the timeframe we set ourselves so take your time, smell the roses and do that one thing today that will make a difference to you later. For more information, see our article “Focus on the Important Things in Life”.
